The project challenges reclamation and seabed quarry in Manila Bay, which, while promoted as drivers of urban expansion and economic growth, cause mangrove loss, seabed dredging, and displacement of fisherfolk and coastal communities. Through legal action and advocacy, it defends community rights, protects marine biodiversity, and insists that development cannot come at the expense of ecosystems and livelihoods.

In December 2024, petitions were filed before the Supreme Court to nullify reclamation and seabed quarry for reclamation permits until a cumulative impact assessment proves safety. The case advanced in 2025, with corporations and local governments impleaded, consolidated replies submitted, and motions filed to demand transparency over withheld studies. Despite challenges such as costly litigation and limited access to key documents, the initiative has exposed corporate–government ties, strengthened the right to information, and built coalitions among environmental and human rights advocates. It continues to press for accountability and collective action to secure Manila Bay’s future for both people and nature.

Join us in defending Manila Bay—because protecting it today means safeguarding our communities and environment for generations to come.
